Praxis integrates knowledge and method to provide life cycle processes and the functions needed to implement them. Its complementary competency framework and capability maturity model ensure that both knowledge and method are applied at both the individual and organisational level.
By making the framework freely available on the World Wide Web, Praxis is demystifying the P3M discipline and detaching it from heavily copyrighted brands and their corporate marketing. Every page on the web site has a comments feature and a ‘contact us’ tab that enables all practitioners to contribute to the evolution of the framework.
The structure of Praxis will be familiar to users of existing guides. The knowledge section adheres to the format and principles of the APM Body of Knowledge, the process model combines the principles of PRINCE2® and MSP® into a single approach to project and programmes, and the capability maturity model is based on CMMI-Dev. The difference is Praxis applies all these principles using a single taxonomy and terminology.
The inherent flexibility of the framework also allows other models to be introduced, such as the ISO21500 life cycle processes that are very similar to the PMBoK® Guide from PMI®.
